Listen… the best part about this trip home has been the food. Hands down.
I love food.
And California has food that you just can’t get anywhere else.
We rule the contiguous United States, Hawaii, and Alaska when it comes to Mexican food. Yoooooo…. I have had so many tacos and burritos this week – it’s not funny! King Taco, El Mariachi Loco, Los Gringos Logos. I could keep naming places. I won’t. But trust me, it’s delicious. And you never really realize how much you miss something until it’s gone or you can’t get it anymore. Welp. The DMV area has nothing that comes even remotely close to deliciousness as California does.
In-n-Out. I don’t even really need to go into great detail about this… but I will! I couldn’t wait until I could find that amazing yellow arrow pointing me to happiness. I held off a complete 24 hours before I went to In-n-Out. It was hard, but I did it. My food was everything I remembered and needed it to be. Dripping special sauce, tomatoes, onions. lettuce, fresh cut fries. YESSSSSSS!!!!
Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles. Technically, I haven’t gone yet. I’m going tomorrow at 10am. And I want 2 waffles and some chicken. A few wings or a couple of legs. I am not a huge fan of the chicken. The other half of the combo, however, is EVERYTHING! That waffle is magical. It’s got some combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, molasses, and a few things I haven’t been able to pin down yet. Ohhhh but it is amazing. Delicious. Wonderful. Splendiferous.
I didn’t make it BLD – the best blueberry ricotta pancakes in your life. With the potatoes and a mimosa. Or a glass of champagne. I don’t wanna talk about it since I can’t have it. But it is good. Extremely good.
Why exactly am I going back to DC again?
*sigh* My inner fat girl (and based on the amount of food I’ve consumed this week my external fat girl) is sad. She doesn’t wanna go back.
